He decido escribir este post en español y en inglés porque quiero compartir esto con mis amigos que no hablan español y quiero honrar a quienes inspiraron este post.
I decided to write this post in Spanish and also in English because I want to share this with my friends that don’t speak Spanish and I want to honor those who inspired this post.
La historia: hace 2 años conocí al matrimonio Susan y Tom Senstad en Lanzarote, a quienes inicié en Reiki. Susan es norteamericana de origen y Tom es noruego. Viven en Oslo, Noruega y parte del año en Lanzarote, España. Son generosos, amables e inquietos, Susan es una excelente escritora y Tom siempre está inventando/ solucionando alguna cosa. Leí un libro de Susan, Music for the third eye, que me inspiró a meditar sobre los hechos de la Europa actual.
The story: 2 years ago I met a couple, Susan and Tom Senstad, in Lanzarote, whom I initiated in Reiki. Susan was born in America and Tom is from Norway. They live in Oslo, Norway, and part of the year in Lanzarote, Spain. They are generous, kindly and eager, Susan is a very good writer and Tom is always inventing / fixing something. I read one of Susan’s books, Music for the third eye, that inspired me to meditate about the facts in the present-day Europe.
Con motivo de los terribles atentados que sufrió Noruega les dejé un mensaje en Skype. Respondieron con esta carta, que publico con su autorización y que no necesita de mis comentarios, sólo de mi traducción.
With the occasion of the horrific attacks that Norway suffered I left them a message on Skype. They answered with this letter, that I publish with their authorization and don’t need any comments from me, just my translation.
“Queridos todos:
Nos damos cuenta que estamos atrasados enviándoles unas palabras para decirles que no nosotros ni aquellos cercanos a nosotros fueron heridos en los espantosos ataques del viernes. Muchos de ustedes nos han enviados mails preocupados- así que , por favor, disculpen este mail grupal.
Dear All of You,
We realize we’re late sending you word that we’re fine, that neither we nor those close to us were injured in the gruesome attacks on Friday. Many of you have sent us worried emails – so please excuse this group message.
Estoy conmocionada por la “diabológica” lógica de la insania, pero más bien quisiera compartir un poco de la sabiduría de la respuesta de Noruega al asesinato de sus hijos.
I’m shaken by insanity’s diabological «logic,» but I’d rather share a taste of the wisdom of Norway’s response to the murder of its children.
Nuestros funcionarios públicos nos han pedido poner primero la compasión, nutrirnos unos a otros, escucharnos mutuamente, poner palabras a nuestros sentimientos, respetar nuestra vulnerabilidad, sentir nuestro enojo y desesperación pero no permitir que el odio ni la angustia se apoderen. El rey Harald, la reina Sonia, su hijo el príncipe heredero Haakon y su Mette-Marit nos han dejado ver sus lágrimas. El rey prometió que nuestros valores humanistas no serían sacudidos. El primer ministro Jens Stoltenberg dijo:”Afrontaremos terror y violencia con aún más democracia, apertura y humanidad- aunque no con inocencia.” Citó una joven mujer de la organización Partido Laborista Joven que estuvo presente durante los ataques: “Si una persona puede mostrar tanto odio, imaginen cuanto amor podemos mostrar todos nosotros juntos.”
Our public officials have asked us to put compassion first, to nurture each other, listen to each other, put words to our feelings, to respect our vulnerability, to feel our anger and desperation but not allow hate or angst to take over. King Harald, Queen Sonja, their son Crown Prince Haakon and his Mette-Marit all let us see their tears. The King promised that our humanist values would not be shaken. The Prime Minister Jens Stoltenberg said: «We will meet terror and violence with even more democracy, openness and humanity – though not with naivity.» He quoted a young woman from the Labor Party Youth organization who was present during the attacks, «If one person can show that much hate, imagine how much love we all can show together.»
Aquí, estas no son solamente palabras bonitas. Ellas brotan de las profundidades, espontáneamente, con lágrimas, con tiernos corazones valientes, con la fuerza de diosas maduras y llenas de matices.
Me siento privilegiada de estar en Noruega.
Here, these aren’t just pretty words. They well up from the depths, spontaneously, with tears, with tender brave hearts, with the force of mature, nuanced goodness.
I feel privileged to be in Norway.
Me mantengo pensando que hubiera sido de los Estados Unidos luego del 11 de septiembre si la vengativa “Cruzada Contra el Terrorismo” no hubiera sido la idea central, si hubiéramos tenido líderes aunque sea cercanos al calibre que los líderes noruegos, incluidos los jóvenes, han probado ser en estos dos últimos días.
I keep thinking what the U.S. might have become after 9/11 if the vengeful «War-On-Terrorism Crusade» had not been the primary thrust, if we’d had leaders anywhere near the calibre Norway’s leaders, including the young ones, have proved themselves to be these last two days.
